As with the PDO RG-16C gun safe the body of the safe is 1.25” thick consisting of two layers of fireboard one inch thick while the door is 5” thick with three layers of fireboard 1.5” thick. The safe is Torch Resistant Fire Rated for one-hour fireproof protection at 1250 degrees Fahrenheit. In the event of a fire the safe door has, a heat activated intumescent door seal designed to seal out smoke and water.
The steel used in the body of the gun safe is ten (10) gauge seamless as is the door. Ten-gauge solid steel plate added to the entire door plus drill/ballistic armored hard plate to protect the lock provides excellent steel protection in the event of an attempted forced entry.
Like the PRO RG-16 gun safe the
RSV-5922C has seven (7) active steel locking bolts, three (3) fixed locking
bolts on the hinged side and an active spring-loaded re-locker to prevent punch
attacks. The major difference here, is that the RSV-5992C locking bolts are one
inch (1”) diameter compared to the one and a half inch diameter (1 1/2”) of the
RG-16C. All the locking bolts are chrome plated solid steel.
External hinges allow full 180
degree door opening and removal of the gun safe door for maintenance or repair.
Pre-drilled anchor holes allow the gun safe to be bolted into position making
it impossible for thieves to make off with the safe.
The interior of
the RSV-5922C gun safe has four removable shelves, three small adjustable
shelves and one full length adjustable shelf, and is finished in a soft plush grey
trim.
The design of
this fireproof gun safe far exceeds California Department of Justice Regulatory
Standards for Residential Security Containers and at a price nearly 20% cheaper
than the PRO RG-16C represents great value.
