 Lock options provide a level of customization not available from competitors.

All the depository safes come standard with an electronic digital lock and except for the HD34C, lock options are available to customize the safe to the specific requirements of individual businesses. Protex Safes have responded to the ever-increasing popularity of biometric safes with the provision of three options for biometric locks. Other lock options other than biometrics are also available.

Protex HDR-83 Safe - Two in One Burglary Safes

While the Protex HDR-83 fireproof burglary safes are the most expensive in the Protex stable of fireproof burglary safes they do incorporate two safes in one; the HD-73 burglary safe and DRW-23 drawer safe. Moreover, in the market place the superior construction and design of Protex HDR-83 fireproof burglary safes results in these high quality safes being competitively and affordably priced.

 HDR-83 fireproof burglary safes have good cubic capacity and unlike standard burglary safes are multi-functional featuring the convenience of a drawer safe at the top and a regular safe at the bottom. Both top and bottom burglary safes come standard with velvet interior for the safe storage of valuable and collectibles. The top drawer of HDR- 83 fireproof burglary safes provides convenient, secure storage of small everyday items and the bottom safe secures larger valuables.

HDR-83 burglary safes weigh in at 209 pounds; have 3.38 cubic feet of security storage in the bottom compartment and .45 cubic feet in the drawer and exterior dimensions of  19"(W) x 37-3/8” (H) x 15-5/8” (D).

Burglary protection for the HDR-83 burglary safes is provided by drill resistant hard plate, four half-inch anchoring bolts to secure the safe to the floor, a two and a half inch thick door with three-eighth inch solid steel-plate to prevent prying and for added security these burglary safes come with concealed hinges. A fire liner provides thirty minutes fire protection. Burglary and fire protection makes this line of fireproof burglary safes suitable for home or business.

About Fireproof Safes

Fireproof safes have an insulated body and doors designed to protect the safe contents from high temperatures or actual fire. In addition fireproof safes may be rated for impact resistance should the safe fall during a fire. Fireproof safes are rated according to how they perform at a constant outside temperature and the maximum internal temperature they can maintain. These class ratings are used in conjunction with the time the internal temperature can be maintained. Typically a Class 350 UL rated fireproof safe will sustain an internal temperature of 350^o F at 80% humidity and dependant on the construction can maintain the temperature for periods ranging from half an hour to four hours.

Fireproof safes for home are typically smaller than those used in business. Depending on individual requirements fireproof safes for business may be suitable for home use. Floor safes installed in concrete provide excellent fire resistance. Fireproof safes can be separated into two main categories, data safes designed to protect computer media and document safes designed to store paper products. Fireproof Data safes maintain an internal temperature no greater than 131^o at constant external temperature of 1830^o F while fireproof safes for documents maintain an internal temperature no greater than 351^o F at a constant external temperature of 1,830^o F. These conditions are maintained for the duration of the test and usually last 30 minutes but as stated earlier can last longer dependant on the safes construction. In the United States, Underwriter Laboratories (UL) do both the writing of standards and the actual testing of fireproof safes.

To protect valuable guns fireproof safes for guns ideally should be rated for one hour at 1250 degrees F and in the event of fire have a heat actived door seal to seal out smoke and water. Fireproof safes are also available for pistols with fingerprint burglary safes offering 30 minutes of fire protection.
